 Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Sopore has arrested 04 notorious drug peddlers at two checkpoints and recovered contraband substance from their possession. 

Officers at a checkpoint established at National Highway Choora arrested two drug peddlers. Identified as Sajad Ahmad Lone and Abdul Majid Lone, both residents of Tujjar Shareef Sopore have been shifted to Police Station Tarzoo where they remain in custody. 1.5 kilograms of charas and a Sumo bearing registration number JK05B-0632 has been seized by the officers.

Case FIR No. 70/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered and initiated investigations in the matter.

Meanwhile, at another checkpoint established at railway crossing Amargrah Sopore, officers from the local police unit arrested two drug peddlers. Identified as Nissar Ahmad Kumar resident of Plan Bandipora and Mohammad Ashraf Bhat resident of Rebban Sopore arrested for the drug supply offences have been taken to Police Station Tarzoo where they remain in custody. 1.5 kilograms of charas has been recovered from their possession.

Case FIR No. 71/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.`
*POPPY STRAW RECOVERED BY POONCH Police
Under the supervisions of the SSP Poonch Sh. Ramesh Angral JKPS,a joint team of PS Surankote and Romeo force laid a special naka at Poshana.During naka checking,they recovered 24kg of Poppy Straw and arrested the accused person namely Gurbachan Singh Gurdeep Singh R/O Dagharwal, Thalma Distt Kapurthala Punjab who was driving a truck bearing Reg.no PB06N 2515.

 In this connection  FIR No 168/2019 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation of the cases have been taken up.
